I used to use the DI on mine to record into a laptop, but I had a tascam US-122 for interface. I would guess you are going to need some kind of buffer between the two.

You'll need an interface, but once you have one, you can use the XLR DI on the back of the amp out...and don't need to plug into a cab.

You can't go XLR->Mac.

Wait a minute. Don't you need some sort of speaker cab hooked up to not damage the amp? Yes you can go into the Mac via the DI out assumining you have the right connections.

Unless you want to use the sound of the amp, I'd get an active DI instead. Behringer makes a decent budget active DI, Hartke offers the Attack pedal and Radial will give you more street cred amongst audio nerds.

You can plug your bass directly into the mac if you have an 1l4 to 1/8 adapter. Solid state power sections on amps don't need a load on the speakers to go direct.

No. YOu don't need a cab set up. This is not a tube amp, its solid state and doesn't need a speaker load.

I hear you...Keep the DI signal from your amp switched to POST EQ, and you're getting the EQ and the preamp setting you like.

That would certainly work for you as an interface. There are other ones out there that are cheaper and dedicated to just the audio interface and no Midi if you're not going to use midi though...

its not a tube amp, but it has a tube preamp. i don't know if it's of any importance, just thought i'd mention it

i need the midi interface, and i have tried that one so i think i will go for it.

Nope. Its not of any importance unless you've got a tube power section, which this doesn't. Besides which, I have an original 3500 which I've had for decades and used as a 'di only' on occasion with no problems.
