Anyone using the Hartke Hydrive 112 cabinets? I'm interested to know if using two of these with 500 watt head will be able to handle a 5 string.TIA

I'm also interrested to hear from anyone who is using either 1 or 2 of these HyDrive 112 cabs, and what you are powering them with.

I don't own the Hydrive 112 s, but I did try a pair of them at Corner Music in Nashville with a Hartke LH500 and a five-string. I didn't get the volume too high, but it sounded and felt to me like they were handling it perfectly. I generally use the Hydrive 410 and 115 live with 5ers, and the 112s in the store sounded exactly as I imagined them to; a bit softer in attack than the 410s, but right on the money with warmth and clarity. They really did respond just as well as the larger Hydrive cabs (and even better that them at lower volume, I thought). I definitely intend to get at least one of these guys for myself.
Hope that helps a little.

I use a Hydrive 112 with a GK MB500.
Never used it at a high volume.

If I ever got in a band I think I would add a second 112.

I'm thinking about selling the one I have. I just like 10's more. IMHO.

I had a passive Lakland JO5. Seemed to handle the B fine. Again, I just played it at low volumes in my basement

I tried one out some time ago. They can hang! I just upgraded my rig and it was down to the Hartkes or the GK Neo 1x12. I chose the GK only because I like the slightly smaller foot print. If the GK's don't work out for me, I'm definitely going for the Hartkes.

How loud did you push the Hartke's and did you try them with a 5 string? The two GK Neo 112 I have are farting out using my GK MB500 at half volume gain/master with the low mid and bass eq at 10 o'clock. That's why I'm interested in the Hartke's. No music store locally carries the Hartke 112 or I would bring my amp and bass there and check them out.

I have one that I pair with a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T combo. I have only used it for a single gig and have never pushed it. Sounded great and I'm pleased so far. I haven't run a 5 string through, but it worked fine with my octave pedal.

Can you try and push it with the octave pedal to see if the Hartke it farts out? Would appreciate to know if the Hartke's can be pushed and still handle a low B.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I gave it a shot and didn't hear any problems with the speaker that would indicate it can't handle a low B.

Thanks for the reply. I emailed a local music store inquiring about the Hartke cabinet and the store said they have ordered one for me to try out. They are a Hartke dealer but said they never have any requests for the 112, mostly just the 410 and 115.

Hopefully I will get a call from them this week. Will bring my 5 string and GK MB500 with me to check it out and put it to the test.

In the meantime I'm interested in this also:
