I have taken delivery of two HX112 cabs yesterday in South Africa. Light and loud little boxes!

Hartke 112 + Hartke 3500 head= wonderful upright amp

I bought this little cab for the upright, and despite the fact that the head and cab together are a little bit heavy the sound is amazing. I use a fishman full circle as my upright pickup, and the entire setup works very well. This setup works well for small ensembles and big bands. Highly recommended for upright players looking for something less expensive than boutique amps........ It sounds nice with electric bass too, but I prefer a 15 when only using one speaker with electric bass.

Don't feel bad my local stores will never stock them either. I'll call under different numbers and request that beast just to get no love.

My experience with Hartke aluminum cone drivers is bad. Although they can sound okay, they aren't consistent and there is no arguing that aluminum softens every time it moves, so they change in sound. The off-axis response is funky too.

Although I've had mine for a month and a half. I got my first chance to really open it up this weekend.
I was using my Lakland 55-60 (passive 5 string Jazz).
I wandered over to the B string once, maybe twice.
I just did not feel confident it would/could handle the low B.

Sam Ash carries them here in Connecticut. They sound ok in the store and I really like the weight, RMS rating, and most of all the switchable 4-8 ohm, but... (cause there's always a but)... I am not confident one of these can maintain with a loud acoustic drummer. I'd be driving it with a 300watt solid state amp. Anyone have experience with these cabs in a live setting?

With very few exceptions, it is simply unrealistic to expect ANY single 1x12 cab to be able to hang with a loud drummer. So get two. They're small...
