I'm interested in getting feedback on the new
Hydrive 410 cabs. I'm looking for a good 410
cab that is small, light , solid and has a good,
tight low end punch for my 5 string. From what
I've read the Hydrive cabs fit this description
and are fairly affordable. Question is: anybody
recommend this cab ? You can email me direct
rjr225@yahoo.com
thanks for your input !

Hey RJ,
I hear they are killer for great punch and bite. I was just at a clinic with JD from BLS and he was using the LH1000 and an 8x10 hydrive and it sounded awesome. That mix of titanium and paper speakers sounded killer. I would defintally try one out for the price man.

I'd have to say that the hi drives are the cream of Hartke's crop. They sound better than any of the XL series I've ever heard/played through. Now that being said, I do think there are better sounding cabs out there that can be had, especially if you look around for a used one.

I took the splurge from the banging reviews I read about the LH series amps and the Hydrive cabs and bought a half stack setup last year. Some of the best money I've ever spent. The LH1000 has headroom and tone for days. Through my Hydrive 410, I rarely have to turn the volume knob past three. The Hydrive 410 cabs are the best-sounding combination of warm roundness and gnarly crispy edge I've played through yet. It's relatively light and easy to transport. I shall be purchasing a second 410 cab soon as I get some spare scratch. I loves me some Hartke gear.

I own one and really dig it. They weigh about 56 lbs and are pretty narrow which makes them easy to move. It does a great job handling everything I throw at it with no issue. Handles the lows well, punches in the mids and can get those nice sparkly highs. The horn can be a little harsh for me on full, but I like it on the -6db setting. A big plus for me was Larry Hartke's top notch customer service too. A great cab for the $$ IMO.

Ah yes, how I could I forget Larry Hartke's numerous posts on here where he posts his personal cell phone number. You're not going to get that many places elsewhere...

I'm not fond of the Hartke Hydrive cabs. I guess I just can't get into the "bitey" sound. The trebles are too harsh in my opinion, even with it EQed down. I used the Hydrive 4x10 with an Ampeg B2R head at a gig a few weeks ago and it sounded decent, but not great. I must it admit, it could get a lot of low end, and the bass was very clean - not muddy at all. But for the price, I think there are other options that you should consider.

Based on the description of what you want, the Gallien Krueger 410MBE would be good. It's 800 watts, 4x10 and weighs only 40 pounds.
