Hartke Hydrive 410 with a HA5500?

the title says it all really. I have a Hartke HA5500 that i snagged recently for $330 (AUD) second hand and now this amplification-newbie is in the market for a cabinet.
I found a guy selling his hydrive 410 quite cheap but the cabinet is 1000w at 8Ω while the HA5500 is 330W at 8Ω. i have heard the hydrives are difficult to power, i dont know if its true though.

so essentially... is the HA5500 gonna power the Hydrive sufficiently?

thanks in advance!

I think it would be perfect... Will he let you try your amp through his cabinet?

Sounds like a match made in heaven. Underpowering isn't a real thing. A good rule of thumb is that you should always have at least twice the watts in cab as you do in head. In this case you would have room to spare so the likelihood of harming your drivers would be very low indeed.

If the price is right on the hydrive grab it with both hands and enjoy it.

this is a good match. I know a guy, he uses exactly this setup. the HA5500 is a powerful amp.

thanks very much for the info! I wasn't really worried about underpowering in terms of damaging things (I've seen a lot of threads about it on here with people explaining how much of a myth it is) but in terms of volume.
if i do manage to get the Hydrive it'll be for around $500, so about half of what it would cost new (at least here in oz)

Lucky devil. That's almost too good for out here; they're doing them for $1300 new in town at the moment. Don't give him a cent without running it up to volume. And don't tell me where you found your deal or I'm liable to cut your lunch and buy it myself.

You can't buy cabs new in this country. It sucks, but that's how it is.

Congrats! Looks like in super shape, only the hydrive logo is missing. I like your EQ setting too

Thanks! i was surprised that it was in almost new condition (the guy said it was 2 years old and had seen gigging) apart from the missing "HyDrive" badge.
And yeah i like boosting the mids in the EQ when i not running it flat, that aluminium sure helps punch the mids!

Yeah, the mids is where the usefull tone comes from The only thing you need now is a second matching cab just kidding... IMO the hydrive series are the biggest improvement that larry h. gave to us in cab design, period...
