Hartke HyDrive 410/LH1000
 

I've had this amp[Hartke Hydrive 410 with LH1000 head] for awhile now and I humorously have used it for a single gig in the past year or so. I would occasionally use it for jams and such..

Anyway, I've been tapped to play a local country/rock band and I'm now noticing an odd issue where it overdrive(even at low volumes) for a short period of time maybe 3-8 seconds and then go back to normal. I'm not sure if it's the cab, the head, or what. Anyone else ever experience a similar problem?

Try replacing the pre amp tube. Sounds like it may be on its way out.

Had the same issue with my lh500. New tungsol 12ax7 preamp tube from amazon for $15 and it sounded better than new. I'd say its a good place to start.
