Hartke Kilo/Ampeg SVT 7 Pro/Orange Bass Terror

Hey I'm looking for a new amp for recording/gigging.

It needs to be lightish and between £300-£800.

I like the Bass Terror because it's small, and the tone is awesome, I've tried one before.

The Ampeg looks sweet because you can use it as a practice unit as well plus, from the rough clips I've heard of it, it sounds good, and I've heard good things about the Hartke.

As far as sound goes, I'm not really fussy, like, each amp is going to have it's own characteristics and stuff, it's a matter of using it to my advantage. If i had to describe a sound i'm looking for, I would say that i'm looking for something really deep, but still very present and in your face.

A few clips of the various bass sounds that I like:
YouTube - ‪Sigur Ros - Glósóli‬‏
YouTube - ‪TESSERACT - April‬‏
YouTube - ‪Periphery - Icarus Lives!‬‏
YouTube - ‪Dave Matthews Band - When the World Ends (Studio Track)‬‏
YouTube - ‪22 - Algorythm‬‏

Any other suggestions would also be awesome

Dave

Orange all the way!
Consider the Streamliner from Genz-Benz too. Awsome little head with a HUGE tone!

Do you have access to play any of them?

I've played the Orange, it was tassttyyyy.

I'm not sure about the local availability of the other two, the nearest music stores to me are years away.

I had a Terror for awhile. Great clean, dirty tone, and tons of power, but I felt the EQ wasn't as responsive as it should be.

I bought as used Harkte LH500 and I like the tone and EQ better. It doesn't overdrive so you would need a pedal for that. Alot of value in Hartke products.

If I was going to spend Terror bucks on amp, I'd probaly go with a GB Streamliner.

Both probably have the best customer service and support which counts for something.

For that kind of money, I'd drive if I had to. You can order all 3 and send back the two you don't choose, but that still costs more money in shipping charges as driving 2-3 hours. Picking out an amp for you is like picking out a girlfriend for you. I have my tastes but they may not line up with yours.

Pre-orders are being taken but it's not out.
