Hartke LH1000 Dead Channel

Hey guys.

I purchased a LH1000 off of Ebay a few months ago and absolutly love it. I picked up a Hydrive 410 a couple of weeks back to go with it and I must say its the best amp i have ever owned.

Now to the problem. Last night my sons bad palyed a show an I let him use my Rig. I was running it Bridged and the amp was only set to about 4.5 on the Volume Dial. It was more than loud enough and sounding great.

Second last song of the night I couln't here him anymore and I can see him looking around wondering what happend.

Could not find out what happend on the fly so we plugged him straight into the PA for the remainder of the show.

Got the amp home and popped the hood and nothing looked out of the ordinary. Both fuses where good (Meter Tested) and no signs of the magic smoke getting out of anything. I had a theory and I turned out to be right. I switched out of bridged and found out only my B Channel worked.

When I power up the amp I only hear one amp section click on but I don't recall or know if both sides should click on. Just as a test I switched the cables from the Preamp channel A to feed the working B channel and it worked fine so I definatly have it narrowed down to the A CHannel amp section.

Its a long post I appologized but I want to give as much info as I can.

If Larry can chime in that would be great but does anyone know what the cost would be to just swap out the entire channel section so I can get all my power back?

OR what I should be looking for as a possible cause for loosing the channel? Because the Fuse did not pop It was not a current issue just faulty component?

Thanks for any help.

Edit:

Using http://music-electronics-forum.com/a...h1000-v3.8.pdf and a closer look at the A Channel Board I noticed two Resistor with black marks on them. I Tested the resistance on them and one is 930ohm or so and the other is 357 ohms. According to the prints R302 and R303 should be 1K Resistors. R303 is the one with the Lower reading so I may have found part of the problem. Now to find someone that can solder a new one in. Would still rather just swap out the entire PCB board but not sure if you can order one separate and get it sent up to Canada and not cost me more than just buying a new amp.

Aside from Larry jumping in, which he will do, or taking the amp in to an amp tech, all I can say is that the experts on here usuually advise against bridging except in certain circumstances. It's over my head, but best of luck sorting it out.

SLC 500,

Bridging the LH-1000 is fine as long as you are using only the Speakon output jack in bridge mode. The ¼ outputs are for AB operation only. You can give my service manager Joe Antonelli a call at 1-800-328-2882 and Joe will help you out. If you need more help I’m right here 201-680-8153. The LH-1000 manual is available on the new Hartke website Hartke | Samson Technologies

Thumbs up

Resistor did not work. I cut out the bad one and jumpered in the replacement. I read Voltages on either side of the replacement but still nothing.

Will Call Joe tomorrow and see where we can go from there.

FYI I was using the Speakon connector while bridged.

Thanks again Larry for the input. Its awsome to see personal assistance like that especially on a sunday.

Right on...nobody would have blamed Larry for waiting until Monday, but he jumped in on the Lord's day and helped you. Larry is a real champ.

Don't go screwing with it anymore till you talk to Joe, though

Yeah, only Hartke and Genz Benz are in that uber elite class of customer service. Lots of great brands, but only a few who go the extra mile. Sweet.

UPDATE:

Talked with Joe Antonelli this morning. Looks like he can't ship to Canada but he did put me onto the Canadian parts vendor for Hartke.

After getting the Part number from Joe and calling "Jam Industries" (for all you canadians out there) I just finished ordering the replacement part and in 4-6 weeks I should have my LH1000 back to max power.

Hartke Customer Service =

Thanks Joe and thanks Larry.
