Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a fairly new Hartke LH1000. Have been noticing as of late that once it's powered on it sounds like it's frying an egg. There's all kinds of static and "egg frying" even when nothing is plugged into the amp. (the amp is hooked to the cab though, just no bass hooked up) I know someone else on here has posted about this problem before, but I can't find the post using the search function.
I've already changed out the pre-amp tube with a Russian Groove Tubes 12AX7. Thought that would take care of it, but now I dunno...any idears? |

Great guy and willing to go WAY above and beyond to make sure his customers are taken care of. I've never been able to get anyone higher than a secretary at Ampeg or GK on the phone. And here, well he missed my first call, but called me back within 5 minutes. Haven't got the amp fixed yet, but will keep y'all posted about the process.
All I can say is, that if you were on the edge about buying Hartke gear...do it. You won't be sorry. I love my LH1000. It sounds amazing and has WAY more power than I'll ever need. The awesome CS is the cherry on top for me. I'll be upgrading the rest of my rig soon for more Hydrive stuff. I'm thinking (2) Hydrive 410s and possibly a 210 combo would round out my setup really nicely.
Anyone want my Aggie cab? =) |

Could be some of the reasons why some guy's are making the move from "The big A" these days, and going to Hartke. I am more than pleased with my two hartke amps, and knowing that there is good service to back up the products has more value than a brand following or recognition. |

to the OP: Check your speaker cables. I once had a custoemr that kept spearing that his Hartke HA3500 head was blown. Turns out he had a bum speaker cable. Gave him a hew one and all was well. Also check the power sorce you are plugging into. Many nights I have walked into a club and had this annoying buzzing comming from my amp. Noise can come from the power outlet. Many companys sell filters to help with that (I use a Monster Pro800 for my gear).

I mean the real reason is I've played Hartke amps in stores, love how they sound, and I hear countless good things about them, but at the end of the day how many companies out there, regardless of what industry they're in, have the head man leaving his personal cell phone number on internet forums?! That's just awesome.

I'm there all the time and Larry is always willing to talk gear, basses and has also made me a couple of great deals.

I got in line behind him and said "Love your work, Larry." He turned and said, "Thanks man. You a bass player?" "Yeah," I said. "Here- gimme a call sometime," he says, handing me a packet with all of his contact info- cell, home phone, all his emails, etc. |

I've been playing bass many decades (too many to count), and no one comes close to providing the customer service that Larry and his crew does.
I sometime think that the reason some give Hartke a bad rap is because it's a great value, price-wise. If Larry had decided to build the exact same rigs, but made them very rare, very expensive, and hard to get, some folks would bow to the boutique gods over his stuff. Perception is a powerful thing.
But Larry is a bassman, first and foremost. He wants to help the regular man-on-the-street own high-quality equipment, so he has always wanted his stuff to be affordable.
After years of playing everything from my original Bassman, thru Ampegs, Acoustics, Sunn, GK, all the way to Crown's, I'm extremely proud to play Hartke stuff exclusively, and have for many years.
Thanks Larry, for helping folks get quality gear at affordable prices, and backing it up with incredible service.

Original post to Larry's response 7 minutes
and his reply is nothing more than his Mobile Phone number and a message to 'Call Me'
can't fault the customer service on that at all!
Kudos to Larry and all at Hartke, if the quality of service is the same here in the UK maybe I'll take another look at their range...

There are people over on basschat.co.uk who have spent hours talking to Larry on the phone, from across the pond. He is the epitome of excellent customer service AFAIK
