| | | Hartke LH1000 or LH500...

I have a Hartke 4.5XL cabinet that handles 400w @ 8ohms. I don't know if I want to get the Hartke LH500 that has 350w @ 8ohms, or should I go ahead and get the Hartke LH1000 that has 750w @ 8ohms bridged. I like the fact that the LH1000 gives me room to grow my rig, but I'm afraid that it will be too easy to blow my 4.5XL. If anybody can give me some advice that would be great.
Peace |

| | | | I'm a noob so bear with me, but is it ok to only plug into one side of the amp? When you are in dual parrallel mode doesn't it act like two seperate amps? I thought I read somewhere that you don't want to run an amp without a load, so amp A would have the 8ohm load and B would have nothing. Is that ok or do you just turn the bridge dial all on the front of the amp all the way to amp A? I appreciate the feedback, you guys are a lot more helpful than some kid at a store that just wants to sell me the more expensive head! |

You can always hear before a speaker blows, if you hear it fart out, turn down. +1 to headroom sounding good in SS amps. And you can use 1 side in non bridged mode without damage to the head. Just look at the LH1000 as 2 LH500 amps in the same case side by side. Now, if I were you I would get a used Ampeg B4r, it can do all the things the Hartke can and then some. It is a very nice head! All the best. Cheers.

Plus you have the option of getting another speaker, which gives you more options...all for an affordable price, plus Hartke is perhaps THE best in customer service, I spoke to Larry Hartke himself, within an hour of calling him, and he personally saw to my satisfaction...amazing!!!!!!!
