Hartke LH500 with 410vx cab

I have a chance to buy this head and cabinet second hand locally. I am upgrading from a 100w crate combo amp. I would appreciate some opinions on whether this would be a good purchase for $550. I might also be able to negotiate the price a bit.

Is the 410 cab a Hartke as well? It depends on what sound you're looking for. Sounds like you're a bit of a newbie bass player since you're upgrading from a 100 watt Crate. I love Crate, I still have a 2X15 cab, sounds great and I only paid $200 for it.

The head sounds like a decent deal as long as it works ok, Hartke cabs lack that booming, earth-moving bass sound because of the aluminum cones. It's great for jazz/blues though. Without hearing the rig I couldn't say how much it's worth. I'd start the negotiations at $400 and go no higher than $500 for used equip.

Yeah its a hartke cab the 410vx, from my understanding it has paper cones. I think the jazz/blues tone is what I'm looking for, I don't play any heavy rock/metal.

i think its a good deal, with the lh 500 remember that setting the amp flat is 2/10 bass 10/10 mid 2/10 treble, it makes a big impact on sound and clean volume. the hartke works best at 4 ohms but if your 215 is 8 ohm another 8 ohm 410 would be more than loud enough for pretty much whatever gigs u need to do.
