Sign in to disble this ad
Im concidering buying a ampeg 6x10 off CL.

Will my 8 ohm Hartke LH500 be hurt running the ampeg?

AMPEG:
RMS POWER HANDLING 600 watts
PEAK POWER HANDLING 1200 watts
IMPEDANCE 4 ohms

HARTKE
Input Sensitivity
Passive Input: 100 k Ohms, 20 mv.
Active Input: 100 k Ohms, 60 mv.
Rated Output Power: 500 watts @ 4 ohms (350 watts @ 8 ohms)

It says it has 500 W at 4 ohm but the outputs on the back of the head both say 8 ohm, unfortunatly i slept through the electronics unit in class so...

any help would be greatly appriciated!

You'll be fine. I had my LH-500 paired to the 6x10 for months. The amp can handle a 4 ohm load, meaning you can connect two 8 ohm cabinets or 1 4ohm cabinet to it.

I ended up selling mine because I couldn't get a sound that wasn't sort of wooly and too bassy from the combination. I got very close on occasion, but then I felt that my tone sucked again the next time I played. Could've just been the combo of bass, strings, amp, inadequate eq-skills and room, so ymmv. It seemed like a very well put together cabinet though and BOY could it get loud with the Hartke. The cab is suprisingly easy to cart around, perfect height with the towel bar and wheels. The weight is quite managable also. I do prefer my current Orange 15" though in every way over the ampeg, but once again, ymmv.

I've used this rig before. Def. power it at 4ohms if you can. You'll be driving the speakers harder, but not too hard.
