You might consider enlightening your ignorance by scoping a bass and seeing the harmonics go up to some 7 KHz.
Perhaps you should send a letter of enlightenment to every bass cab manufacturer that includes a tweeter or mid-bass driver.

Setup a graphic EQ to drive a full range system such as a HiFi set.
Plug in your bass, drop all slides from 500 Hz and up.
Notice how it sounds like screaming through a wet blanket.
