Hartke vx410 and HA3500 REWIRE question

Hi all.

I have only ever joined car based forums and so is a first for me. I have been playing for a long time and recently got rid of my Philip Kubicki factor bass and trace elliot in favor of a warwick bass and the above set up. I am used to plugging into a combo and not separates like this and so want to know is it possible for me to get the full 350 watt output with only 1 4X10? When I plug in I reckon im getting only 240 watts max as its not very loud. I have 2 8ohms outputs at the back of the head and 2 inputs on the cab...what do i do?

Thank you in advance,

Steve

If you look on the back of the head it'll tell you what it puts out at 4 ohms and 8 ohms. I think it's like 285 or 265. I have the same head and I run it into a Mesa powerhouse 410. It's a great head

the hartke 3500 puts out 240 @ 8 ohms, 350 @ 4 ohms. you're cab handles 400 @ 8 ohms. your choices are 1. add another 8 ohm cab. b. get a head that pushes more @ 8 ohms. 3. deal with the 240 @ 8ohms...

The two outputs on the amp are for connecting two cabinets. The two jacks on the cabinet are for connecting to the amp and for daisy chaining (parallel feed) to a second cabinet. You can run two 8Ω cabinets or a single 4Ω cabinet.

I'm surprised you're not getting enough volume.

I had a Hartke xl410 cab and a Hartke 3500 head and by the time it got to 4 on the Master Volume it was so loud I couldn't stand it.

Do you have the preamp volumes up to at least 12 o'clock?

Yes I have them at just over 12 oclock. When I plug one lead into head and cab the tube makes a static type noise and the driver sounds crackly. When I plug 2 leads into the head and plug both of them into the cab at the same time its louder, clearer with no static noise. Does that make sense. Im sorry but im one of the many thats just getting to grips with the ohms thing.

Thanks so far guys,

Steve

I have the same exact setup. It sounds too quiet for me too. I thought it was just me. I was thinking about getting another vx410 since you can find them relatively cheap. Or a higher end 4 ohm 410 and selling the vx410. I can barely hear it over my drummer and we don't have any guitars yet.

Odd... I guess the vx series must be a lot less efficient than those old XL cabs or something.

I may have found a solution. My local repairer, who has just rebuilt my head and serviced it has told me that he can rewire it to to 4 ohms. Whilst I do trust them and will be having this done can anyone make suggestions as to why I SHOULDNT do this. Thanks again all, Steve
