Has anyone A/B'd the AudioKinesis Thunderchild 12 and a fEarful 12/6/1 ?

I have a AudioKinesis Thunderchild 12 acoustic friendly cab on order and I am VERY excited. I am hoping it will replace the two Acoustic Image single 10 cabs that I use together now.

But it is very hard to miss all of the fEarful talk and glowing reports.

I am considering getting both the TC12 and a fEarful. Not to play together though.

Has anyone been able to A/B these two cabinets?

Thanks

I did an A/B of my Thunderchild 12, non-acoustic version, and my LDS nEarful 12/6. I mixed and matched with my Shuttle 9 and Streamliner 900 and a couple of basses, the results are in the AudioKinesis and Streamliner threads if I recall correctly.

When paired with the S9 I gave the slight edge to the TC12, winning on clarity, and with the STL-900 the slight edge to the LDS, winning on deepness. All IMO, of course.

Overall I thought the two cabs were very, very close in achieving my tone goals with my EQ settings, etc. You can't go wrong with either IMO. I eventually sold the LDS because the TC12 is every bit as good and easier to schlep, and I have a TC15 on order which should negate any need for the slightly larger and fuller LDS.

Thanks for this excellent information. Lomo gave me great info also by PM.

This is EXACTLY what I was hoping to hear. I am all about clarity. Because I play in small settings with acoustic instrument, tablas, harmoniums and various turkish instruments, deepness can be a problem.

Thanks !!!!

You're welcome! nEarful and fEarful cabs are fabulous. So too AudioKinesis. I can't imaging you'll be disappointed, especially since more and more nEarful/fEarful lovers are becoming AudioKinesis devotees.

I ab'd the TC112Ac against my Carvin LSX1503 and it compared favorably. The two were similar in the low end, with my Carvin having a slight edge in extension, but the TC was rolled off to represent less low bass than the Carvin is. The dispersion and high end were no contest, TC smoked the Carvin. Though that is one of the TC's design goals... More so than the Carvin.

Bang for the buck, Carvin wins. Passinwind (Charlie) and Duke Le June both said that the Carvin box was a contender, particularly with price factored in. However, for performance, the TC was awesome. I'm sure you will be happy.

Also, Michael Manring sounded great through the TC. Pure Sex.
