Very nice sound, but not really giggable, more for home recording and practicing, also maybe rather quiet bands.

I'm inclined to buy one of those as well, just need a cab and I'm kinda low on cash right now...

My son has an Epi Valve Jr. and I have been known to borrow it to plug into my Peavey 15" cab.

We were working out stuff for an acoustic gig but I only had my fretless. It was kind of funny having that little tiny head up there on the cab but it sounded pretty nice. Afterward we cranked it. Sounded pretty grindy. |

Sounded sick! |

Splitting allowed me to keep my clean bass signal and retain all the low end while the guitar cab gave me some killer distortion and the highs I wanted.
Worked perfectly. |

So I'm wondering how much an 5w (tube) amp will pump out... |

The point of the Epi head is simply a low-buck tube rig with gobs of tube-ey grind and breakup at not too much more than a "conversational" volume. But the tube tone is there.
Think more along the lines of a great bang-for-the-buck tool for home recording.
If you shop around you can get a used Epi valve Jr. head for the price of a pedal.
