Has anyone removed the grill from a GK MB Series Amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Today I attempted to remove the grill from my MB210 Combo so I could paint it, then reattach it when it dried and after I removed the 4 screws (2 on each side) the grill didn't want to budge one bit. I didn't really muscle it out because I don't wanna bend or warp the grill and end up ruining it.

Is there any certain trick I can try? Is it also glued in place from the factory?

Any insight is appreciated, thanks guys.

Yup; you have one more screw to undo (at the bottom by the port). Should drop right out.

Thanks, I'll check it out when I get home. I didn't think to look under the amp. Didn't really check either...

Whoa, there. I have an MB210 combo and I removed the grill a week ago. I don't remember having to remove any screw on the bottom. There were just four, two on each side.

Maybe I have a screw loose?

The fifth mystery screw isn't on the underside of the amp, but is at the bottom of the grill a little left of the centerline, down by the right edge of the port. There is one in the top left corner, top right corner, left side and right side about halfway down, then the last one down by the port. Sorry if the description isn't the best; I would just take a picture, but I'm on my phone. 5 screws in total all accessible from the front of the grille.
Hope this helps!

You're thinking of another amp. My MB210 has no screws on the front of the grill. The screws holding the grill in are located on the sides of the cab, near the front edge. And there are four of them, basically one in each corner, near the plastic stacking cleats.

Hmm, that is actually pretty odd, as I went and looked at my MB210 before I posted. Maybe they did a running change to them since mine or something. If my wife wasn't on the computer, I would post a picture of it. I got mine in the summer last year, so who knows. I've taken it off to do the whole bracing/ batting thing. Maybe the OP has yet another variant of grille attachment!
Anyways, good luck!

There were definitely 5 on my MB210, in each corner and roughly central along the bottom .

Talking Photographic Evidence!

Got my wife to surrender the computer, so here are the pics of mine. The small rectangles of metal on the inside edge of the grille have screws in 'em.

I have the same cab you have. After removing the five screws it should lift out. There is no glue attaching it. Since my fingers were too big to lift the screws out from behind the grill, I took a bread twist and fashioned a little hook/holder to wrap around the screws to lift them out, thus preventing the screws near the port from rolling into the cab through the port. Worked out great for putting them back in too. If you have a magnetic screwdriver you might not have that problem.

hmm, mine doesn't look like in that picture.

I'll grab some tools from my truck tomorrow morning and see if I don't have a flat piece I can pry it with. I just really don't wanna F it up.
