Having the power go out with a tube amp:

Sign in to disble this ad
Yesterday my band played a pretty decent sized venue. 3rd band to play and no more than 30s or so into our first song, we blow the power on stage right (my side..). The first two band played just fine, no loss of power :/

The power went out on us 4-5 times.. Could basically "pulling-the-plug" with my VB-2 on bad?

No. That is what power switches do.

...Not factoring in any surges or other goofy power factors, I am sure your amp is fine. I do worry about the solid state ones as IME they tend to be more fragile than the old tube heads.

If you want to be kind to your amp, put it in standby before the power comes back, and give it a chance to warm up again.

uh.... duh? i know how to work a tube amp...

Im not saying I pulled the plug, but since we blew their fuses (I.E. lost power), its pretty much the same as pulling the plug...

Your amp will be fine...something's shoddy with the clubs wiring though.

+1 especially with such a low power amp as the VB2.
