Which head?

Sign in to disble this ad
Looking to upgrade my head from my Peavey Tour 450 to either a Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 or a Mesa Bass Buster 200 All-Tube that I have seen online. Both amps are in good overall condition and the prices are alright. I am simply turning to the TB community for opinions on each head, how it compares to the Tour 450, and which could be a better match for my Mesa PowerHouse 6x10 cab. Thanks!

That is kind of what I was thinking. I've never owned or played a tube amp before, but I hear they really put out sound. I have heard a lot of good things about the Big Block too though.

Both are solid, great sounding amps, but the Buster is really special. Whatever it costs you, figure the cost of a good check up by a reliable amp tech as part of the cost. Once you have it all checked out, and loaded with good tubes, it will give you that awesome Boogie tube tone for years to come.

I hear ya. I can guess both are pretty nice amp heads, however it's kind of funny because the guy is selling the Buster tube amp less than the Big Block.

Yeah, I got my Buster 210 combo for $400, then sank another $300 for a re-tube and fix a few other problems. It's on standby at this moment, waiting for me to play some more. Awesome amps, and not especially expensive.
