The new band I'm playing with won't play without me having a head and an 8x10. Suggestions? I don't really wanna spend a huge amount of money though which is the bad thing, so something thats cheap but sounds good.

If they run bass thru the PA you probably don't need a 8x10.

Anyway, I'd suggest buying a used cab, and head, just to save some cash. Look on the TB classifieds near you for local sales, and check craigslist/kijiji. |

If they're just looking for a big rig on stage, maybe consider two Avatar 4X10's? It would be inexpensive, and look real big. Then maybe a head or power/pre setup, whatever makes ya happy. |

I run this from time to time when I need to fill a 40-acre pasture for a BBQ-on the hoof and I can swamp the whole area.
Personally, I love to run that combo as I firmly believe that a bass and amp should stand on their own two feet and not bother with a DI to the PA at all.
That should satisfy them
Test drive one at GC.

If I were pro-ing around, that's what I'd go for too.

If you are serious about joining a band that is at that level then get serious about your gear. |
