If the cab and head both have speakon jacks, use a speakon cable (the kind in the second link). If not, a regular quarter inch speaker cable will work.

The main thing to remember is that you should NOT use an instrument cable.

Sorry to ask but the head has a 1/4 inch jack input and the cabinet has a speakon input, should I get a speaker cable with one side a speakon and one side a 1/4 such as the 3rd one on this site ?

Yes, that will work great. Get the shortest one you can... that 3ft version on the site is perfect (not a big deal, but just more neat and tidy behind the cab). That will be a nice rig.

Note that the cable you linked to is 10m, or 33ft. As Ken said, you only need 3-6 ft., so if you can't find a shorter one, you can always use one that has 1/4" plugs on both ends.

Holy Moly!!!!! My old eyes saw that as 3.3 ft! Yes, get a short one 3 to 5 feet.

I don't think the new GK Neo boxes have a 1/4 speaker input, due to that 'active crossover' thing.. not sure though. I don't think they use combo jacks either, but rather just a speakon.

It shouldn't be hard to find a relatively short 1/4" to speakon cable for the OP.

I thought the GK cabs with biamp capability came with a 4 conductor Speakon cable included.

I just read the PDF product manual on the GK site. The current GK Neo's have both speakon and 1/4" input... so either a simple 1/4 to 1/4 speaker cable (again, make sure it is a SPEAKER cable) or a 1/4 to speakon will work fine.

I don't believe the 400RB he is getting has the speakon outputs, much less the biamp thing.

I know the feeling! I just verified with the on-line manual. It is confusing, since the newer 400RB models kind of look like the more modern 700/1001 heads with the speakon outs and the 'tweeter/woofer biamp capability (versus the 800RB, which still has the 'classic' GK look). My head was spinning for a moment!

Head: 1/4 outs
Cab: Speakon or 1/4 input.

So, either way, he is fine. Again, that will be a very nice lightweight rig!!!!!!!

+1
You might have to make your own cable if you can't find a short one with two different plugs on it. That's easy enough though if you feel like you must have a Speakon.
Just take a 1/4" to 1/4" cable, cut off one plug and wire a Speakon plug to it.

Thanks a lot for the help. Ill go look for a nice 3-5ft speakon cable best to get the speakon instead of a 1/4 incase its misplaced as a instrument cable or vice versa

Speakon won't work at the amp. It only has 1/4" outputs.

Oh ok sorry, im not very good with amp tech xD the Neo manual says it has a speakon connector, and the head has a 1/4, so will a 1/4 on both sides be fine ?

Another thing: G-K supplies a 4 conductor Speakon-Speakon cable with the cab (at least they used to). You can modify one end with a 1/4" plug, but you have to make sure you connect the correct two leads to the phone plug.

really, If it were me, I'd just go with a 1/4" to 1/4" and call it a day>
