Head and Cab noob question

Sign in to disble this ad
Long time combo user here, now switching to a separate head and cab--I have a LMII and a Dr Bass 210 8ohms. I'd like to add another 8ohm cab. What is the preferred method of connecting things? Run the separate outputs from the amp head to each cab individually, or go head-cab-cab (the Dr Bass is said to have "parallel" connections). Does it matter?

LMII can do both 4 and 8 ohm

if you have two 8 ohm cabs each connected to the head
your amp will amp will output 4ohms
providing 250w to each cab

if you connect one cab to the head and and connect the other cab to the cab connected to the head you have doubled the ohms and now have 16ohms

not a good idea for a head that does not support it

no, it's wired in parallel, in other words, there's no difference between
head -> cab -> cab
and
cab <- head -> cab

however you want to do it is fine

Yes, either way.
