A head to go with this?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm having some serious GAS to have a rig, instead of a combo. I can't spend more than 450€(round numbers...), and I want a 210 cab, because any more would be to big, and 112's are much more expensive than 210's.

the like GK, and their 210 is cheap, so the cab is this one:

http://www.musicstore.com/en_EN/EUR/...BAS0001912-000

I thought off pairing it with an ashdown little giant 1000, but I'm pretty sure that would blow up the cab. maybe the 350?

I'm open to any interesting suggestions, of course. I trust you wisdom

A used GK head would probably be the best for it.

A used GK Backline 600 would be a great choice of heads for you. They're inexpensive, no too heavy, and reasonably powerful. OTOH, I would stay away from the Backline cabs (like the one you linked to). There is very little to like about the backline cabs.

Contrary to what you might think (unless things are different in Europe) a quality 1x12 will cost about the same or less than a quality 2x10. Anyhow, for a good budget 2x10 on your side of the pond I would probably look at the Ashdown MAG series or possibly Warwick.

Good luck in your quest. Let us know what you decide.

I considered the ashdown too, actually. I use a backline 410 at the studio where my band practices, and I like the sound of it. A bit muffled, now that I think of it. Maybe you're right. And the ashdown wasn't much more expensive than the GK one, about 30€, I think.
Tried an Hartke head the other day. The sound seemed good, but I don't know about the graphic EQ...

I don't have any personal experience with Hartke stuff but it gets a lot of love around here . . . especially the Hydrive cabs.

+1 on the Hartke stuff. Been playing them for years, after playing Fender, Sunn, Ampeg, Acoustic, GK, etc.. Got LH1000 last year. Got HX410 HyDrive cabs this month. Best customer service in the biz, period. If he doubled his prices, folks would think they were "boutique".

Call Larry Hartke 201-680-8153. Seriously. That's his cell number, and he's a bass player who loves to talk bass (sorry no pun). Good enough for Vic Wooten, Stu Hamm, Jack Bruce, Will Lee, and many more.....

Check him out of Facebook, too. He's a trip, but he's serious about his business. Listens to the needs of bassists, and keeps improving his product. Thus the love for Hartke on TB...

Hope this helps,
CD

I like the heads quite a bit(except for the EQ, but I'd get used to that) but 410 are a no-no for now. I'd love to have a 410, but they're just to big for now. I'm looking for 210's

I think Hartke Has a 210 cab that is reasonable. You could pick up a Hartke LH 500 amp, and hartke 210 cab for very little cash.

after a short sightseeing around the hartke site, how about this:

HyDrive112 + Ha2500 head? or maybe even the HA3500C?

the hydrives have been getting a lot of love around the forum, and 12's are nice

If it's in your budget, the LH 500 has a lot more fans than the HA series amps. That cab looks nice though.

+1 on the HyDrive112 Played one this week it was killer and can add another when the $$ come through.

I'm more in favor of the LH 500 myself. It is my next purchase.
