| Head suggestions - Berg & SWR cab content I'm considering switching from the TC Electronic Classic 450 that I use with an SWR Golight 210. I had been in a band that played mostly 60's/70's classic rock, and another one that did more oldies/doo-wop, so the TCE's vintage tone was a good fit. I'm currently in a cover band that in addition to some of the classic rock standards is also playing more of a mixed variety - reggae, new wave, grunge, even some pop.
Also, since I've owned my Aguilar AG500 for the past year, I've come to appreciate a more open, cleaner tone than the TCE can provide (on the AG500 I never use channel 2, the saturation channel). Had I never gotten rid of my Tecamp Puma 500, I'd say that would be perfect, but I'm not looking to spend that much at this time for what is, in essence, probably my back-up head. $600-ish would be a good ballpark (new/mint used). If I can get even lighter than the TCE, i.e. something I can stick in a gig bag, that would be a bonus.
The other rig I have is the AG500 hooked up to Bergantino HD112 (x2) cabs. This new head is intended for use with the SWR, but if there would be a better match for the Berg cabs than the AG500, I could possibly be persuaded to reconsider that setup.
I tried a Genz Shuttle 9.2 (not the Max) this weekend with the SWR & I liked it. Very clear, but I was able to "vintage" it up a bit, which could come in handy. More watts than I'd need, and more than the 210 could take, but it's used & the price is fair.
Would the Shuttle 9.2 be a good choice for the SWR (and maybe the Berg stack)? What else should I be listening to for either cab setup (&/or both)? FWIW, I play fingerstyle and slapping is a foreign concept to me at the moment.
