If you, some day, have more than one bass that you want to gig with, or some other instrument that you would like to run into your amp, the mixer can be used as a front end to do so with.

I have only tried one of these modern GK micro amps so I can't comment on it too much as it had some issues just sitting on the dealer's display (cutting out intermittently), but I have always liked the "normal sized" Gallien-Krueger amps I have owned in the past.

It would be nice if the Aux in had it's own level control so you wouldn't be totally dependent on the volume control of the MP3 player (for example).

I have a couple of headphone amps, but they are collecting dust now. There is huge fun about filling up a room with a cool bassline.

My headphone amp these days is a REDDI plugged into my Fast Track C400. Bit of overkill for a headphone amp, but I have it so I might as well use it. Still, I agree with Woodstockz about how much fun it is to hear your bass fill up a room. BA108 is a sweet little amp for the money.

I'll look for a BA 108 next time I'm at GC.

Among other things, I also use mine so that I mix the vocals, backing tracks and my bass guitar to my taste.

It works really well and I can hear everything perfectly. This is with my 12/6 and a markbass 'markstand' (wedge).

Actually, virtually all amps with a solid-state power section can run with no load. Keep in mind that not all Class D amps have the same features as the MB-200. For instance even the MB200's larger siblings, the MB500 and MB800, do not have auxiliary inputs. While the do have effects returns, they're monaural.

Any other examples of amps like this? The local store sells orange, blackstar, line6. I think I've seen a few hartkes in there as well.

You can always get an MB200 on line or from my favorite bass store.

Look just east of my avatar.

(I receive no benefit from any of their sales.)

You'd have to ask George or Chris. They certainly don't charge more than the big box companies. If you call the store you'll get one of them every time you call, and they'll yak with you until you know everything you need to know ... even if you don't buy anything. MF not so much. SW a little bit.

Sounds good, I'll give it a shot.

On the local cl there's a Genz-Benz Intro 90 amp for sale. Anyone know anything about one of these? It looks pretty interesting.

Looking at this PDF:

http://www.genzbenz.com/img/manuals/...o-90manual.pdf

I find one thing that, to me, is a design mistake:

Quote:
LINE OUT/CD INPUT—This 1/4”(tip-sleeve) jack serves two functions. For “play along
practice mode” connection of a portable CD (or Cassette) player with a high impedance output
(approximately 600 ohms or higher) to this jack feeds the signal into the amp with the volume
controlled by the output control on the CD player only. The instrument plugs into the normal input
and is controlled by the volume knob on the INTRO 90. For “gig mode” this jack provides a post
EQ signal for connection to a direct box or unbalanced line level input.
Using one jack to serve as both an input and an output!

Sounds fishy..hmm indeed. He also has an acoustic b100(i think that's the model number) for sale as well, which are supposed to be a pretty safe bet from what I hear.

I've been plugging headphones into the cheap old practice amps my old roommate left me. Sounds way better than through the speaker, quite good actually. I'm considering ripping the amp out of the box, rehousing it and using it as a desktop headphone amp. I don't know why though.
