Headphone practice amps...What do you use ?

I have the little Vox bass plug in,but I'm thinking I'd like something a little better...Any suggestions on what's decent and what's not ?

Cafe Walter. Enough juice to drive high quality high impedance cans, great sound, nice aux in for metronome or MP3 with separate volume control.

This unit has a lot of good features with amp sims, some effects (a little too cooked). still decent for the price though

I run my bass direct/straight through my cafe walter, + run my CD BassTrainer or metronome through the cafe walter aux in separately.

The BassTrainer is a great tool and I tried using only that as a headphone amp, but in truth there's just no friggin' way it compares with the cafe walter as a headphone amp for clean, transparent, "truthful" sound of your bass & your own playing. Period.

I use an A-Designs REDDI into a Fast Track C400. Not cheap, but man, what a headphone amp!

Most times I use my iPod Touch and the PocketGK app. Sometimes I run through my WTDI to the recording interface hooked to my desktop computer.

As long as you dont need battery power, the Mackie 402-VLZ3 can be had new for $99.

A Dean Bass-In-A-Box + Panasonic XBS headphones for portable use, and a David Yee output transformerless single-ended dual Triode tube amp with reference, studio-quality JVC headphones at home.

A warning from a geezer - practicing with earbuds / phone can make you as deaf as a full blown gig. After years of earbud practice, my tinnitus is screaming like a siren.

I'm sorry, did you say something?

3 Leaf Audio makes "The Enabler" which is INCREDIBLE but it's much more than just a "headphone/practice amp"
