Heard a band using one of the mini Ampeg stacks

(fellow TB'er KevBassMan), and I was really surprised at how good of a tone and how loud that thing got.

To be honest, I never thought it would cut it in a band, but he made it rock.

I'm not surprised. It's not the loudest amp on the market, but it's certainly loud enough to do most non-metal gigs. And if you have a PA and don't need a lot of stage volume, you could even do metal gigs with it.

I think I remember Tony Levin using one for smaller gigs that he was doing.

I found a pic on Tony Levin's website.

He was touring with Terry Bozzio, Alan Holdsworth and Pat Mastelotto and playing the mini!!

There must be more to the story.

yeah - the tour bus had no more room after Terry's kit He has to be using one of the biggest kits out there! Saw him in Berklee's BPC once, the kit damn near took up the whole stage!!

Here's a link to the tour diary page with numerous pics of bozzio's monstrous kit being assembled, broken down and then packed into the trailer. what a pain.
