Heard my first Genz Benz last weekend

Thumpin_P and I went to the Bass Place in Peoria, AZ last weekend to see what they had, and I figured I'd be spending my time with the Hartke LH1000 and HyDrive full stack. P plugged into a GB Shuttle 3.0 with the 108 cab.. I can't believe that much sound came out of that little box. They had the 110 and two of the bigger cabs there, but we just used that 108 the whole time, it sounded fantastic. We didn't try any 5ers on it and I don't think it could solo many pub shows, but for what, twenty pounds? it was still impressive.

Are all GB amps like this? P was slapping a Czech Spector on it and it only clipped once with it cranked up. The 8ohm 108 cab sounded bigger than my Acoustic running 200W to a 115. They had a Streamliner, but we ran out of time, so I'll have to go back and try that one.

Anyways. Delayed OMG thread.

You guys are from AZ and never tried a Genz??!!

Yes they are great sounding amps.... one of the best for slapping and popping I would say.

Try the Streamliner through a Ampeg Fridge if you wanna see the other side of the companys tonal spectrum

Seriously, they're based in Scottsdale

But yeah, all their stuff is ridiculously efficient. I've never had my 2x12 not be enough, even outdoors. In fact I've never had to turn my master past 1:00. I'm actually thinking about getting a 1x12 just to save space in the trailer.

We both just moved here within the last few months, forgive us!

They only had Ampeg combos there, and I could get the Hartke stack for about the price of one GB cab actually.. Finances trump most other things, but damn it sounded good. I'd love the Streamliner and one of those vertical neo 210s.. I bet that could cover anything I ever needed to do.

Hmmm ... they're in Peoria all right. They were in Tempe last time I was there.

Hey guys!
Knucklehead and I were there to drool and check out the primo gear..and it was truly primo! he and I both are transplants, and had no idea about the proximity of all this wonderul equipment! I knew Fender was based out of Scottsdale, but, obviously, I am ignorant of other companies.
Any hints?

If you are talking about the 3.0/8t combo it weighs less than 14 pounds. I had one for about a month and actually gigged with it using the DI into the PA. Great little amp. I had ordered a bag for the combo and the store screwed up and got one for the 3.0/10t instead so I traded the 8.0 in for a 10.0 otherwise I would still own it.

I've heard a lot of excuses for trading up ... but getting the wrong size bag.

I'm going to use that one sometime.
