Hello! need some help deciding which amp to buy

Hi guys! I haven't posted in years!

Just wanted some input from anyone out there...

I own a bassman 400 from Fender... it's a good combo amp i've played a lot of gigs with it and always noticed that is advertisted that it's 350 watts. It has never really seemed like that. My guitarist always usually drowned me out from his amp.

Now!

I've been wanting an Ampeg amp... but I want a combo... what do you think would be better overall, a combo or the Ampeg Micro VR Micro-Stack

What about adding another cab to your bassman? I dont think I micro VR will get you any louder, its about half the wattage, and I havent found Ampeg to be "loud" watts either.

+1 on adding a the cab .....maybe you could get a loan of one to try out at a rehersal to see how it works for you before making a purchase.

Yeah I was thinking maybe adding another cab if I do, end up buying the micro. There are other combos that I've been eyeing as well like the ba series or a portaflex.

The thing is I have two friends ill be jamming with in the near future. One of them just has a small amp. That would be good with the micro. Now my other friend, has a Marshall half stack.

Volume is a result of having multiple speakers, not amplifier wattage. Add an ext spkr if you need louder.

I go with an ampeg combo 15 and a DI into mix. Simple and gets the job done. I'm not trying to break my back with huge amps! Added plus for the DI you get better tone when you record with one.

Thanks the Ampeg BA-600/115 seems like it might be the winner to me. Is it possible to use head phones on it? Sometimes I want to get some late night playing when inspired, don't want to wake anyone up.
