| Hello! Wattage/cab question.

Hello everybody,
I'm new here. I am actually a drummer who dabbles with guitar and bass. I've always wanted a really nice bass set up and finally decided to pursue my goal.
I'm purchasing an Ampeg 8x10 and my plan is to have the bassist in my band use it as well. We're a stoner metal band, lots of low B action, bass fighting full stacks and I'm a fairly loud drummer.
But I'm worried about the handling of the cab. While I'm eventually getting an SVT classic, his set up uses a power amp which bridges into 1400 watts. I'm just really hoping this won't do any damage to the cab. Is this an awful idea or will it work? Any things I should take extra care with? Thanks a lot!
