Help with adding bass cabinets together...

Just wondering, if I added two bass cabinets together, for example, two 4x10 500 watt cabinets, will these now be equal to an 8x10 1000 watt cabinet? Can a 1000 watt head be run through these two cabinets now?

besides watts you have to be sure the ohms will match(speakers and amp). example: if both cabs are 8 ohm and your amp can handle 4 ohm then it would be ok.

FWIW any head can be used to power any speaker setup so long as the impedance matching is correct. In the case of a 1000w head into speakers rated at 1000w that's probably twice the power required to drive them to full output. Read this, which should be mandatory before anyone asks any power and impedance related questions:
