Help with Ampeg SVT CL and cabinet confusion

I've never posted before so I hope this is in the correct area. I currently own an Ampeg SVT CL head and a SWR Big Bertha cabinet (2x15). I wanted to add an Eden 2x10 cabinet to my setup for some extra mids. The SWR cabinet is 700watts RMS and the Eden cabinet I wanted is 350watts RMS. I keep getting conflicting information on whether or not this will work with my current setup. The head will run at 2 and 4 ohms. The SWR cabinet is 4ohm cabinet. The Eden cabinet comes in either 4 or 8 ohms. Guys at one music store said it would work fine. Then the salesman at a different store said it would be too much for my head and I would be over working the amp. This is the first non combo amp set up I have owned so I'm out of my element.

If you really have to, get the 4 ohm Eden and put the SVT in 2 ohm mode. Then, watch your volume. The 210 might not be able to take as much power as the 215 and you risk blowing the 210 out. You might also face phasing issues due to mismatched drivers. Try to bring your rig to go test out the 210 to see if you like the sound. Why do you even need a 210 if you have the SWR?

The 210 has an impedance of either 4 or 8 ohms, it can not switch between those values. If it is a 4 ohm cab then you can run both 4 ohm cabs at once for a total 2 ohm load. I would recommend that you keep your impedance at 2 or 4 ohms with your head.

Now with that said, there is absolutely no reason to add the 210. Just stick with the 215 and rock out.

The Eden comes in either a 4ohm cab or a 8ohm cab. I should have said it better. I was told running a head at 2ohms was really taxing for the amp so I didn't want to break anything. The head only runs at 2 or 4 ohms so I wasn't sure if this was correct. I used to play out of a 1x15 combo and a 2x10 setup my friend had when we would play and I really liked the sound. Thats the reason I would thinking about getting the 10's. I'm still very happy with the SWR's. Thank you for the help.

If you want more, add a second identical 215 (its the only cab I would recommend pairing with your current cab). That amp is perfectly happy running at 2 Ohms, it was designed to work with and was sold with a pair of 810's.

If you just get another 4 ohm SWR two by fifteen and stack them vertically you will have better upper mid dispersion than a two by ten Eden lying horizontal on top of a two by fifteen.
You can never have enough speaker area

+1 adding a 210 to a 215 makes absolutely no sense. You won't "get more mids" by adding a tiny cab to a big one, it doesn't work like that. You should spend a few hours reading the amps forums, especially any threads related to mixing driver sizes.

My thoughts:

If you want mids I think you either want a whole different speaker configuration, or you need to add a 410. A 210 wont really do much. You can match the impedance by getting a 4ohm 210 (an 8 ohm one not only would send a confusing message to your head, which wants to work with only a 4 ohm or 2 ohm load, nothing inbetween) but the 210, being 8 ohms, would probably not even get as much power sent to it,and it is already a small speaker configuration. Therefore you probably would barely notice a difference.

a 4 ohm 410 might work just fine. I would place the 410 on the ground and the 215 on top. Take some of the boom out of the 215 and add some floor coupling to the 410.

Other options: sell your 215 and buy a 410. Or a 212. Or something like that.
