i've been playing guitar for several years but i started getting into bass with borrowed equipment, and now i want to buy some of my own. i browsed my local craigslist listings for an amp, and right now the two best looking options are:
1. a Peavey TKO 80 bass amp with a 12 inch speaker for $80
(2 inputs, preamp output, bass middle treble eq knobs, pre and post gain knobs)
(the version that looks like this:

OR
2. a Fender Bassman TV 12 for $250
so, which one of these two amps should i get? i need to know soon because someone else may buy one of them.
notes:
1. i am aware that the Fender is decidedly more old school and has a tube, while the Peavey is entirely solid state.
2. this amp will not be used for metal or hard rock, but i do like everything from Muddy Waters and Cream to Coldplay or the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
3. as far as my bass, i will probably be buying a squier vintage modified jaguar short scale bass (it has passive p and j bass pickups) and upgrading the pickups to Lollars.
one more question: why does it seem like there has been such a lack of interest in or enthusiasm for the fender bassman tv series?
thanks for your help
