Help with a cab decision

Sign in to disble this ad
I play for a church in town and with a Christian rock group and am in need of some advice thanks to a couple blown speakers. I guess that's what I get for loaning equipment.
I currently have an avatar B410 non neo that has 2 new blown tens. I've been debating on replacing it anyway and just picked up a Carvin BRX1200 amp. Should I pay the couple hundred bucks and get it fixed, build a fearful 15/6, or go with something different.
I play a fender 24 fret jazz so between the bass and the carvin head I can come up with about any tone I want but I generally play a combination of deep fat gospel tone, and thick rock with occasional slapping. Need one cab to do it all for now though may plan to go with a stack later. All suggestions are appreciated.

How loud U gonna play in your church?
For most situations a 4x10" is plenty. What I'd do- contact Avatar & ask re replacement drivers & repair it with the proper speakers

fEARful 12/6 could possibly fill the need as well.. Want to stack later? Add a fEARful 12sub.. Same goes w/the 15's.. Easy to add the HF option to these as well for a little extra HF snap.. Invest once, no more GAS...

I vote fEARful 15/6/1. Can do it all and will move more air than a 12/6/1 for the same power. Cost is about the same, too, unless you go for a 12/6 with the Alpha 6 mid.

I don't play extremely loud but it is a 300 person room with no pa support for the bass. I also play a good number of outdoor shows where if my production company is in charge of audio I get more than enough pa support but often have to provide all the volume from my amp and cab if I'm not in charge of the event. I have been leaning towards the 15/6 but have been getting reviews between Gods gift to bass players to being too sonically wide to give you a deep growly tone. Any thoughts on that?
