Help! DB750 troubles...

Hey TB'ers... I need some advice regarding an issue that I've been having with my Aguilar DB750.

At low(er) volumes the amp is quiet and clean sounding while idle, however, when either the gain OR master knobs go past approx. 1 o'clock, I begin to hear a static-y/fuzzy white noise coming through the speakers. The further I push the gain or master, the louder it gets. If both knobs are cranked, the white noise pours out at a significant volume. And this isn't your regular "cranked-up-amp" hum. This is a sickly sounding white noise.

This isn't the first problem I've had with the amp, and the last issue I had (about 3 months ago) was remedied by simply replacing the tubes. So, the tubes are quite fresh.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

-Justin

I'm having similar problems so am interested in any replies.

Did you swap all the tubes out 3 months ago, or could you pin it down to just one tube?

I ended up swapping out all four of the tubes when I repaired it previously.

Give Aguilar a call when you can. I had a problem with a DB750 once. I spoke to them on the phone, they walked me through diagnosing the problem, and it was fixed by replacing a preamp tube. They're very helpful.

Yeah contact them, I use their AG500 and a GS210 for double bass and they have always been extremely helpful when I've contacted them. Both times I sent them e-mails and they got back to me right away (within an hour or two) and I would not hesitate to call for something like what you described.

Yea, that was definitely on the list of things to do. Unfortunately, this is something that I wanted to address after their NY office had already closed, and I leave for a gig tomorrow morning before I'd be able to talk to anyone at the company. Figured I'd throw it out there and see if I could get any advice before my show tomorrow.

Thanks anyways!

Does it make the noise in one location or everywhere you use it?
