Help! GK 1001RB/212 Combo volume problem . . .

Sign in to disble this ad
Need help from my fellow TB-ers . . .

Volume fluctuates during gigs - no rhyme or reason. Had amp board changed out and it still happens. Sound engineers say signal to board from XLR direct out on amp remains constant - seems like it's just a stage volume thing. Has been at different venues and with different basses.

I'm technologically challenged - not a do-it-your-selfer - any ideas on what the problem could be? Loose speaker wire connection?

Hate to drop $ on a new amp or in continued trouble-shooting of this one. It's only about 4 years old and is well cared for.

Thanks for any assistance . . .

I assume you mean a 1001RBII head and a Neo 212-II combination?

There has been a common maintenance issue on the jack associated with the effect send and return jacks. just put a short cable into those jacks (ie a "zero effect" effect). If that solves the problem, you just need to spray in some electronics cleaner and get rid of the dirt on the jack connections inside.

With 4 years, that just might be your problem.

Cool - thanks for the feedback - I'll give both of those a try. Any preferences on cleaner to use?

Would this still be the issue if I don't (and never have) used the effects loop?

Thanks LowEnd and LJ - looks like that might have been the trick. Used a little "DeoxIT" in all the 1/4" jacks and there were no problems @ tonight's gig.

I appreciate the wisdom . . .
