So, I just recently purchased a Crate b80xl 990 Limited Edition for 40 bucks. It was great and all but now when I play sometimes it rats out and cuts out for a few seconds. Sometimes when I play, It the volume will go way down and sound distorted but if I hit it real hard it goes back to normal. Any idea what this could be? Hopefully an easy inexpensive fix, Since I am a broke musician and all lol.

Dirty input or FX loop jacks, possibly. Does the cutting-out happen at any volume level or just when cranked loud?

I thought it was just when loud but I turned it on today very low and it still did it.

Sounds like dirty 1/4"jacks. Buy some contact cleaner from an electronics place or even Radio Shack.

Hmm alright, So that is the pressurized air stuff in the can? and I just spray it into the jack. Like directly into it?

Get De-Oxit or stuff labeled Tuner Control cleaner. Some regular "contact cleaner" can damage pots (the things behind your knobs).

So get the right stuff and spray it in every jack, pot and switch on that things and work them all several times. Pots all the way left and right, switches at all settings and run a plug in all the jacks. Let it all evaporate before you turn it back on.

That much is simple cleaning/maintenance you can do yourself. If that doesn't fix it, the problems are more serious.
