HELP! I have GAS! (GK 1001RB content)

So, after letting my GAS go out of control and picking up 2 projects, an Ibanez Destroyer, and a Carvin B5F, I'm really wanting a 1001RB.

I'd been flogging on modern amp heads for a while and am currently running 2 tube heads (SVT-II and Peavey Alpha Bass). But... I want a modern amp head! Argh!

I think for metalz, I might need a more hifi/modern tone to be heard as more than the boom at the bottom. I've been using an SVT-II -> 810E with 4 Jensen Mod10-50's to open up the highs and mid range, but it isn't cutting it. My Carvin B4 sounded empty through this rig (and I tried to fix it unsuccessfully with OD from my Bass VT).

I switched to my P with a DP127 and it really flushes out the sound, but my parts, especially the little touches of icing on the song cake I put in, just get lost. I have all the lows and mids that I ever needed and have that balls to my sound... it's just that it isn't tone. It's boom with mids courtesy of the 4 stock drivers and mids with some boom courtesy of the Jensens. I switched to my Alpha Bass to bring some highs in (and not use that gawd-awful uber hi switch on the Ampeg) and it's better, but not great. I'd actually feel better if I had some clack or string noise in there! I mean, with this change, I make the breakdowns br00tal but I just want to stand out a bit from the messy mix (one UBER scopped guitar, and a very full range EQ'd guitar with prominent mids.)

My next consideration is bringing in my Genz Benz 610, but it's carpet would be the victim of cat scratch and pee, along with some unfortunate dog pee leaks from upstairs in my drummer's basement. (At try-out I got peed on.)

I'm also moving toward a more hi-fi tone with all of my basses and looking for a clearer sounds in general via electronics changes. Help?

So what's holding you back from getting it? Have you tried one out? What did you think?
