Help to identify this cab? MESA?

Sign in to disble this ad
I know a lot of 410s look exactly the same but I thought I'd give this a shot anyway?

The potential seller says its an 8ohm MESA and that it was one of their lower budget cabs but he's not around it right now to take more pictures. Can anyone help or do I just have to wait til he finds time to get more pics?

Thanks in advance...

I don't recall Mesa ever doing anything *budget*
Beyond that, I can't tell much from that pic. I'm skeptical. What's he asking for it?

I'd wait for more pictures or go see it in person. It doesn't look like a Mesa to me, though I'm far from an expert.

I would think if it was a MESA he would have the MESA logo to go with it, even if it feel off or something I would think he would have it.

The Avatar is bottom ported. Don't think that's it.

The thing that makes me skeptical is that he's only asking 150 for it. I'm no expert on amps but I know Mesas aren't cheap

That's true, missed that. Does the mystery cab have a port at the top? There's a much larger gap there than at the bottom of the cab.

edit: mystery cab also looks like it has a carpet covering. Mesa's never used that, right?

Seller says that it had a name plate on the front that fell off that said "mesa engineering". Maybe scoping it tomorrow night. Maybe its a Powerhouse and he just doesn't know what he has haha

Definitely not a Mesa, definitely not a GK (look at the grill pattern, GK is square, this is more rounded).

My first thought was Eden.

This one is pretty damn close except the tweeter is different...

This would make a lot of sense given the price.
Those are decent cabs though, from what I hear.

Is it tolex or carpet covered? I don't recall Mesa having a budget line, and pretty much all tolex from what I've seen.

He said and I quote "I picked it up it 8 months ago for $250. Its not a super high end cabinet but it sounds good" He has assured me he has the ,"Mesa Engineering" badge for it. Whether he bought it new or used for $250 I'm not sure. I don't want to ask TOO many questions or seem over eager and he get suspicious and up the price

I have a better way to find out...

Step 1: Plug it in.
Step 2: Determine if it sounds good or not
Step 3: Determine if it's worth the asking price, and usable for the music you play

....You now no longer need to know who made the cabinet.

They are great cabs..I used to gig 2 of them for years, heavy but sounded awesome, and could handle a 5 string like a big boy.
If those cones on the speakers are "dimpled", then I bet thats what it is. Anyways, the input on the back will tell the tale.
