Help IDing old Peavey cab

Sign in to disble this ad

I can't seem to find much info on this cab its a fairly large ported 2x12.
I have found one in a local pawn shop (not the cab in the photo but similar)
The one I am looking at has the BW equipped logo on the front. they are asking $250
but I'm sure thats not firm. Just curious if anyone knows what cab this is.
I'm also considering an Ampeg svt3 pro at the same shop, would this be a good match?

Contact customer service at Peavey. They are BRILLIANT. One of the reasons I've been using their stuff for years is the customer service.
No, I don't work for them.

Was that on craigslist in austin? I didn't know if it was some vented bottom chunky metal guitar cab or some kind of scoop or something. It'd take some work to make it a decent bass cab and even then.....meh.

I'd think for $250 you could find something that's a lot less work to make it play-out ready.

I don't remember the price, just looked at it and moved on. I'd be thinking more like $20. Anymore than that and I could find a better use for my 20.

I think the one in the pic was actually some sort of combo w/ scorpions. The slot at the bottom was probably for the amp guts.

If I were you I would take a close look at the cab you are thinking about, I bet it was actually some sort of combo with the amp removed, those are for sale all the time. Definitely check the back for a model number. I don't think there was ever a 212 cab w/ black widows for sale but there were plenty of combos that did. Here is an example - just picture it with the amp gone and the grill reworked:

Yeah it could be combo sitting upsidedown. There are some little blocks to screw into. Was wondering if they were mounts for the grillcloth/frame to attach to where there's open space.

This pic i found in another forum (where they were also looking for ID) may be a better representation. this is not the one Ive been looking at but similar (the one i've been looking at has (supposedly) Black widows.
