Help with Markbass Features

I have a little Mark III and it seems that the line out and Effects Loop are not functional.

I have never used these features in any head and I am wondering if I am doing something wrong.

I plugged an XLR cable into the lineout and into a mixing board-no signal. I tried using the return line as a second input-nothing. Is there something else I need to do?

Or do I need to get this fixed?

Dumb question - did you turn up the line level knob on the front when you tried the XLR signal out? If that still does not work, sounds like it needs to be repaired.

I thought so, yes I did, but not a dumb question at all.
