Help: Match Genz Benz shtl 6 w/ 210 cab

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently purchased a Genz Benz shuttle 6.0. It puts out 375 watts at 8ohm and 600 watts at 4ohm. Trying to match a 210 cab. Was looking at the SWR goliath jr 350 watt or the newer 400watt version. (as well as the golight 400w). I have read the over/underpowering threads and my head is spinning now. Basically looking to match a 210 cab with the possibility of adding a 15" cab later if needed. Playing studio as well as small gigs with p.a. Confused on which one would be better suited (wattage and vol level, etc...) As of now, it will mostly be used as a standalone. Is a 212 a better option? Does it carry enough punch, yet bypass the need for a 15? If so, any reccommendations. Sorry about the redundancy of this thread, but confused on which wattage to run and am new to the game. Looking to spend $350-$550.

Funny you would mention that you were lookin into an SWR cab to go with your genz benz shuttle head....as i recently posted a thread looking for anyone that has tried/heard those two names played together.

in response to your question. i cant really say if a 2x12 would be better than a 2x10 however it seems the folks that are using the 2x12 cabs arent mixing them with any extra 15" cabs....sounds like the 12s bring as much low end as needed. I do however know a bit about SWR's 2x10 sound...if you like clean and crisp punch they are right for you....just make sure to turn your horn down or off....as it can get kinda messy sounding highs and if you dont use a pick can add a lot of finger noise really easy....

i have been playing out of an SWR 2x10 and goliath 4x10 and for 10's SWR can produce a decent amount of low's with incredible tone. good luck and let me know if you decide on SWR to compliment your Shuttle. i would love to know how it sounds.

this has been my 2 cents.

gabe

When I was in the process of going to a micro head one of the micro's I auditioned was the GB 6.0 through one of my 8 ohm, 500 watt cap., Avatar 210 Neo cabinets.
IMHO, it sounded great!
When the 6.0 was run into both my 210 Avatars stacked as a vertical 410...it sounded massive.
I'd suggest your also checking out Avatar's bass cabinets.
A 500 watt cap., 210 Avatar loaded with Eminence Neo speakers and a Foster horn, new, is $319.00 plus shipping.
Avatar also just came out with a 3-way cab that's getting alot of interest and great reviews here on T.B. Some have paired the new 3-way Avatar cab with the 6.0 and have posted it was great.
