Help Me Choose A Combo

Sign in to disble this ad
Here are the contenders

A) Line 6 LowDown Studio 110
B) Roland Cube Bass 100
C) GK MB112

The first 2 have amps models and various built in effects and the GK does not but it is more powerful.

rank'em

If you have money for the Roland, I would get that. Great sound + usable effects, well-constructed.

The GK is high on bang-for-buck performance but no effects. That’s my number two choice, unless you want to jam with it, then it’s my number one choice. You can rehearse with it.

Line6 is a good little amp and cheaper. Get that if you want effects, want to save money, and don’t plan on jamming with anything other than acoustics.

I forgot to mention that the amp must be able to handle the following

1. Practice (both home and rehearsal)
2. Recording
3. Low volume acoustic gigs

Look into the bigger Line 6 stuff. Line 6 LowDown LD300, IIRC, had all the built-in goodies with a 300-watt 15" speaker.

Apparently this amp has been discontinued. At any rate, my budget is around $400.00 tops.

GK

It looks like your prefer a 12” speaker so I would go with the GK. Plenty of power @ 200w, great price at 299.00.

One fellow here was the first TB member to buy one and he did a review on it. Do a "search" for the model number.

I don't necessarily prefer a 12 (the Line 6 is a 10 inch speaker). The GK is $349.99 here in Canada (still a good price) Power wise, you're right, the GK pumps out 200 watts but has no effects or amp models....possibly a negative when I go to record. I'll be able to try all 3 here locally though, so no need to buy sight unseen (or unplayed)
