Help me find a head + cab.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys first post here. Now I've been playing bass for a number of years but I've never had anything other than a lousy 10w combo. Finally I'm going to upgrade to a nice big head and cab But I know nothing about amps. So I wanted to ask you guys what I should be looking at. I play a lot of funk type stuff and I'm a driving force in my band. At the moment I'm playing P-bass rip off, but in the future I want to be playing a ray on this rig. Obviously you guys can't tell me what to buy but suggestions on what to try out and which direction I should head in would help heaps.

If you really "know nothing of amps", the best first step would be to spend some time reading through the amps forum. Really. Read everything, get a feel.

Many bassists end up using D.I. live, whether they like it or not. I'd suggest you invest in a good D.I. tone so that you always sound you best. If you do that then a moderately powerful combo might be useful for monitoring, there are other options though.
