Acoustic and Sunn also used them. i have a couple of of Sunn CTS 12's that look exactly like them.
IMO, the cab in question looks like an old acoustic more than anything else. I'm not sure that they use that type of handles on the sides though.

They used vented caps because they didn't have vented pole pieces, which were used only in high end drivers in those days. Today you see vented pole pieces in most drivers.
