Help Me make a choice, starting new band after New Years

Sign in to disble this ad
Iam going to start playing in a small band. 2 acoustic guitars, 2 singers and a drummer that most of the time plays with brushes. They play a lot of coffee houses, but also play medium size gigs, bars. Sometimes they play a little rock and he will use a Tele. I don't see the need to bring my big rig. I want something I can throw in the back of my ford ranger and go. I would like a combo at least 500 watts with out adding speakers to get it. The amps I was looking at were the Ampeg BA 600, Peavey Tour TNT, Hartke New LH5410,TC BG 500 and theres a guy at work trying to sell me a Peavey Bam 210 which is in very good condition, he got from his son who never learn to play. J don't want to carry a head and cab. I have a head and cab already. They don't have a P.A. that will support a Bass from what Ive seen. What the hell is a Peavey Bam that a Flintstone thing. Thanks again Guys

500w without adding speakers puts you in a very small combo market. Most top combos are around 300w at 8 ohms, then 500w by adding a speaker.
Quite frankly you don't really need that much power internally, based on the description of your band. I'm having a hard time thinking of a combo that pushes 500w to the internal speaker (s).
Definitely try the Peavey first though if he offers you a deal.

The Peavey Bam 210 is an awesome 210 combo. Can get loud as hell and you can add an extension cab as well.

It does amp/cab modeling and I had one...and it does the modeling VERY well. Lots of tonal variation. One of the best combos I've ever heard and/or played through. Heavy sucka though, but I loved it. Wished I never sold it.

+1, besides, 500 watts through a combo amps spkr(s) will gain nothing. At best, you're looking at a single 15, or pair of 10's. 300 watts is more than they can handle. Just look, (and listen) to whatever is available to you, and buy based on tone.

Try this one. All the bells and whistles, plenty of power internally and more with extension, good price.
