help me with my bass rig

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi to all Talk Bass forum member
I have 2 amps, Ashdown ABM500 and Hartke HA3500

and 1 bass cab, Ashdown ABM210T

I would like to use both heads at the same time, so I need to get another cab. I'm thinking to add a 1x15", so I could use one head with the 2x10" and another head with the 1x15".
I've been reading about 'bi-amping', but for that purpose I would need a crossover to take full advantage of bi-amping. I was thinking to use the 'sub-out' of the Ashdown and send it to the Hartke, but the sub-out pass through the Ashdown preamp, so it would be like using 1 preamp into another preamp... too much noise IMO
I was also considering to split the signal and use both heads full range, but I'm afraid it will sound like crap.

What do you think about this? Any suggestions?

Sounds to me like you’re making things too complicated, and yes, it will likely sound like crap.

Pick a head, get another (preferably identical) cabinet if you want to push more air, and run it all full range like they were designed to be run.

HELP ME PLEASE

Ok....I am not a technician, electronics man, whatever the case, I am just a bass player. I have an older (90s) Hartke HA3500 Transient Attack bass head and use it to power a 410xl Transient Attack cab. I began hearing some noise like loose seams in a speaker?? or cracked glue joints, and there is a crack in the suface of the speaker mounting board so I decided to replace the cab with a new 410xl cab (Hartke)

I get the new cab and plug it in. Only the right side speakers work. Get a new one sent out and the same dang thing. I tried every combination of out/in and still only one side powering up. I plugged in according to the instructions they sent with the new cab. This is a very frustrating situation.

Is it possible that the older version head is not compatible with the new cabs? I can plug it into my old cab and its full power. Can someone please help me? Chet Murray 605-431-1212
