Help me with my bass rig set up.

Sign in to disble this ad
I want modify my amp set up to include a second amp in my rack that will be dedicated to a distorted tones. Currently my rig is this:

Demeter HBP-01-->dBX 160X compressor-->Bag End ELF M-->>QSC PLX 2402

The subs go to a Bag End S18E-D and the highs to a Bag End D10BX-D.

I want to add a set up dedicated to distortion. I was wanting to go with an Ampeg SVT BSP --> QSC PLX series Amp---> Bag End D10B-D.

I want to not only be able to switch between these rigs but use them both but I want no significant volume change.

Please lend suggestions.

Two suggestions, the first is an AB pedal and the second is an ABY pedal.
The first can be used to put two guitars into one amp or switch one guitar between two amps:
Boss AB-2, BOSS AB-2 2-way Selector :: Overview .
`
The second can do the same plus both channels can be on simultaneously so you can blend both amp rigs (or, if necessary, have two guitarists into one amp in an emergency)
Radial Bones Twin City, Radial Bones™ Twin-City ABY switcher
`
There are others out there that do similar functions.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I am aware of AB and ABY's, but this doesn't solve the issue of the overall level changing drastically.

The AB switch would be the easiest solution...you just need to set the master volumes on the amps appropriately.

If you are not going to use them together I woul consider going to a switching rig. I have been contemplating this for a long time, and I have most of the components. Basically, the switcher is a series of loops, midi controllable. You put each amp/preamp in a loop, effects in other loops, and output the end of the switcher to your amp and speakers. Here is the Rocktron Patchmate link if you are interested.
