Help Me Pick a stand alone 115 for my LMII

Sign in to disble this ad
Looking for that old school vibe so I am going with a 115.
These are the cabs I have to choose from:

1.) Bag End 115sd-b
2.) AMPEG SVT15E
3.) Boogie Mesa Power House 1X15

Price and weight wise they are all in the same area.
Which would you pick and why?

Edit:

The last option is to wait for a Aguilar DB115. (I drool over this guy.) I am not good at waiting and it also seems pretty pricy.

Mesa all the way, if you don't mind the weight (as you point out, they are all heavy). You can get it in 4ohms, which really makes a difference with the LMII IMO, and the tweeter/crossover switching circuit is awesome. The Mesa castors are awesome also, and I believe they are standard with that cab.

While I haven't heard the Orange cabs, people seem to dig their 115 quite a bit.

Personally, I would wait for the Aguilar.

This isn't on the list, but what about a shroeder 1515L. 2 15s for the size of one, and about the same price as the aggie.

Greetings from the North,

Check out the Traynor TC115. For sound, features, & warranty it's hard to beat. No tweeter or rat fur and will handle 400 watts. If you want 'old school' it is worth taking a serious look at.

What about one of those LDS single 15's? I've heard good things from people here.

The 15/6's (LDS, DIY fEarFul, etc.) sound great. However, given they only come in 8ohms, are voiced relatively deep, and are large cabs that can take a lot of power, it seems a little bit of a waste to only put 300 watts into them. However, they get plenty loud and sound great with the LMII/III... very big, deep and smooth up top... kind of old school but with more clarity and articulation.

Depends on the tone the OP wants.... smooth and pure... the 15/6 is great. Grindy and aggressive, the 3015HO loaded LDS 15 is KILLER, and only around 35 pounds.

the good news is that there's room for another 15/6 if you please.

If you see a used (no longer made) Bergantino HT115---it is a nice, balanced, standalone cab--and it sounds good with a LMII. Most reviews put it at or near the top of single 15's.

Yeah, I have thought about LDS.
I was thinking a 15/10/tweeter @ 4 ohms.
Most of the time I would attenuate the tweeter off, but it would be nice to have if I ever wanted to use it.
