Help me understand Mono, Stereo and Channels.

Sign in to disble this ad
Looking into amp heads and wondering what all the talk of two channel, stereo, mono and crossover is all about.

Could someone explain or possible link what I need to know about this. Take Eden World Tour for example... the WT 400 is basically the same as the 800 with only one channel??? Is this in case you want to run two cabs?

Thanks in advance.

From what I understand, an amp with 2 channels essentially has 2 power amps in it, each with 1 output. So if you only used one output, you are only getting half the power. Unless you bridge the outputs together, in which case you'd be getting twice the power to the 1 cab so it would wanna be a good cab.

can someone confirm?

oor it just has multiple distinct preamp paths that you can select or blend. Thats what I think when I hear multiple channels. Stereo on the other hand is what you describe.
